In Portugal we call Christmas Natal and these Natas (which have a name that could see them being part of a nativity play) are a traditional fusion of a Portuguese Christmas staple - a Azevia - with our delicious crunchy Nata. Well, we don't really know how it was picked by convent nuns but we're very glad it did come to life because a chickpea sweet paste is delicious and Christmasy.
