In Portugal we call Christmas Natal and these Natas (which have a name that could see them being part of a nativity play) are a traditional fusion of a Portuguese Christmas staple – a Azevia – with our delicious crunchy Nata. We present to you our Chickpea (yes, you read that right) Nata!
Why chickpea you ask? Well, we don’t really know how it was picked by convent nuns but we’re very glad it did come to life because a chickpea sweet paste is delicious and Christmasy.
Give these intriguing Natas a try and you will be converted to this delicious, filling and sweet Nata.
